our farm
/i//cowpair.jpg We have a small herd of Pineywoods Cattle, a native breed that is very hardy, very smart and very personable. Ours rotate through a 15 acre pasture--their favorite spot is in the middle where they can rummage through the privet under the oak trees. It's my favorite place for them, too, as I know they're protected from rain and high winds. I TRY to remember that this is a tough breed of cattle and that they perhaps need a bit of hardship to maintain their traditional hardiness... For those who are interested, their names are: Oberon (the bull), Daisy (head cow), Smut, Cobweb, Lasaraleen and Baby Bull.
/i//pen.gif For many years we've raised free range broilers. Here they are, en masse, outside their cattle panel house. We, like most folks, use electric netting--more to keep critters out than to keep the chickens in. These are Cornish Cross cockerels, but we're experimenting with a slower growing, less finicky bird now. We sell fresh or frozen chickens, averaging 4 pounds each for $10/bird. Please give us a call or email if you're interested. You can pick them up on the farm, or we can arrange for delivery.
/i//bedroomagain.jpg We would love to host your group for a farm tour! Hayrides, feeding the animals, checking eggs, a soapmaking demo... Just let us know when and how many. We also offer a farm-raised lunch or hot dog cookout for an additional fee.
